Top 5 Tech Appliances we are anticipating in 2018

23rd Feb 2018

At Gregson’s we keep up to date with all the latest and greatest new tech coming our way. It’s our job to be able to value products old and new and be on the cutting edge of tech. While we haven’t had these items come through our auction house yet we look forward to seeing some of them in the coming years.

Here are our top picks for smart home and appliance trends for 2018:

01  Neato Botvac Connected Robot Vaccum
The cleverest vacuum yet, the Neato Botvac works with Wi-Fi connectivity to let you vacuum from anywhere with their mobile app. You can also track cleaning with a coverage map showing where Neato has cleaned over the last 20 runs. The Neato also connects to your smart home through Alexa and Google Assistant so you can ‘tell’ Neato to start vacuuming through your devices. Once done cleaning it will automatically return to charge base to recharge itself. Never hold a vacuum again – the Neato Botvac has it covered.

02  “The Wall” Samsungs 146-inch TV
‘The Wall’ is the screen of the future with world’s first MicroLED television. It contains self-emitting micrometer scale LEDs, which eliminate the need for colour filters or backlight. Using artificial intelligence to continually learn and improve picture quality your TV will literally get better the more you watch it. But the most innovative feature is its new modular design giving consumers the ability to create different sized screens that meet their lifestyle needs. ‘The wall’ can fit into any wall of any home.

03  Wireless Kitchen:
URBANEER and WPC debut the first commercially available wireless kitchen in stores later this year. Given the multiple uses of kitchens like cooking, working and gathering, getting rid of all the power cords for different appliances could make for a more user-friendly and safer home. They have made charging devices as easy as leaving your smart appliance, phone or laptop on the kitchen bench. While not on the market yet, we are anticipating that this kitchen will be the greatest shift in appliance and home technology in a decade. Making kitchens safer and more convenient – we cannot wait to try one ourselves.

04  Whirlpool Smart All-in-one Washer and Dryer
This smart washer dryer combo lets you fit a state-of-the-art washer and dryer into your home. While washer/dryer combos are not a new technology the Whirlpool Smart All-In-One uses new tech to get the most out of your machine. It includes transfer free washing and drying where you can set a cycle that washes and dries in the one machine. It includes automatic detergent dispensing so you always have the right amount for your load. With the Whirlpool app you can get notifications sent when laundry is ready. It’s connected to Amazon Alexa – so you can put on a wash remotely and has smart cycles tailored the specific load to better protect your clothing. All we need next is a washer/dryer that also folds and puts away your clothes – in the next few years we may never have to think about laundry again.

05  Samsung ‘Family hub’ refrigerator
The kitchen fridge is the centre of a family home and the ‘family hub’ fridge takes that to a whole new level. It is chalked full of exciting fridge features displayed on a 21-inch screen built-in to one of the doors. It can display the family calendar, clock, and weather so you can stay up to date with the world around you. You can also leave digital notes and reminders for your loved ones from anywhere via the Samsung app. But the cherry on top of this well-refrigerated cake is the grocery shopping features. Every time the fridge closes it takes a photo of what’s inside. These pics are accessible by smartphone making shopping a breeze. Woolworths also offers a compatible app so you can do online ordering straight from the fridge.
