Mining and construction equipment has played a big role in Gregsons auctions in 2017, with one of our biggest auctions of the year happening in May 2017, where we saw 93.5% of the lots sold; you can read more about it here.
While the final results are yet to come in, one of our recent auctions on behalf of KPMG in the matter of Brierty Limited (Administrators Appointed), which saw mining and construction equipment go under the hammer, has absolutely smashed the May auction out of the park!
Who are Brierty Limited (Administrators Appointed)?
Brierty Limited were a contractor in the civil construction and mining industry. The company was established in 1981 and worked primarily within Western Australia and the Northern Territory to deliver high quality projects to a broad range of mining and civil construction clients.
As a company, Brierty specialised in:
– Civil infrastructure
– Land Development
– Mine Infrastructure
– Drill & Blast
– Crushing & Screening
– Materials Handling
– Mining Services
Unfortunately, Brierty was placed into voluntary administration in mid-2017. According to Business News, the company fought to recover from the mining downturn and cost blowouts from a major project in 2016 and regrettably failed to secure more projects for the future.
Gregsons was awarded the disposal contract on behalf of KPMG and quickly got to work on delivering one of the largest online auctions Gregsons has seen.
Construction Equipment Galore
The Brierty auction offered up a variety of items, from 170tn dump trucks to 250tn excavators, static water tanks to sea containers and light commercial vehicles to trailers. We also had a range of smaller items, such as oils, tyres, rims, workshop tools and GPS systems.
Gregsons auctioned off the varying types of equipment over 40+ auctions, with over 2,600 lots of items up for grabs for the lucky buyers.
If you were in the market for civil & mining equipment & machinery, light commercial vehicles, trucks, trailers, tools or warehouse equipment, this was the auction for you!
A Resounding Success
The auctions ran from 20th November to mid-January 2018, with the 2,600+ lots spread across two states and five locations! The equipment spanned two Maddington premises, Port Hedland, Darwin & Welshpool.
Across the auctions, the results were as follows:
• 40+ Auctions
• 2,600+ Lots
• 4,297+ Bidders
• 190,877 Website Pageviews

• 288,626 People reached on Facebook
• 15,442 Click on Facebook posts

We will be conducting another Major Auction in the next couple of months which will feature a large quantity of similar civil equipment and machinery. You can find some of the Auction videos from the November Brierty Auction below!
